Thinking For Yourself

Here’s a question to think about: why are you taking advice from people who are not on the same journey in life as you? I get it, you ask your friends and family for advice, but you always get the same type of advice. But there is something deep down inside of you screaming “this is not the best way to handle it”. “There has to be a way that aligns with my value system.”
There is, and it is always one that lets you sleep at night, one that will always be the easiest for you BECAUSE it aligns with your value system. Sometimes it means not doing it at all, or maybe there is a different way, one that will not make your mind dwell on it for a long time.
Our consciousness is there for a reason. It is to guide us in our actions. It keeps us from having what I like to call the “cottonmouth of failure”. This is when something happens like you were trying something and then it goes wrong and then your mouth dries up like the Oklahoma Dust Bowl of 1930-1936. You will also get this when you are doing something you know is against your value system, or doing something that in the end is fine, but the methods are against what you believe in.
So what do you do now? We have talked about getting advice from people who aren’t on the same life journey as you. And we also talked about our value system. But now that we have had this revelation, we are lost. We have no idea what steps to take, what direction to go in, or where to even start.
Some things you can do right now-
Take stock in what you believe in. There is wisdom you gave yourself in that alone.
Think about the times someone said they did something a certain way. Were there thoughts in your mind that disagreed with their methods? How would you have done it differently?
How can you start implementing these thoughts in your life going forward?
This is a great start to seeing what your true value system is and how you can improve it for a start to a better life.
